How it works

Buy with confidence. Sell with ease.

Whether you're collecting handmade craft or making a living from it, Ubuntu Crafts keeps things simple and fair.

For buyers

1

Discover

Browse by African region or Rest of World, filter by country, craft technique, format and price, or search by name.

2

Buy or bid

Purchase fixed-price pieces instantly via cart & checkout, or place a live bid on one-of-a-kind auction items.

3

Track delivery

Follow your order through clear milestones: Placed → In Production → Label Created → In Transit → Out for Delivery → Delivered.

For sellers

1

Open a free shop

Sign up, choose "Sell", and build your shop profile. No subscription, no listing fees.

2

List your craft

Add photos, tag region / country / technique, pick fixed price or auction, and preview your exact earnings.

3

Sell & get paid

A per-sale commission is deducted automatically on each sale. Payouts activate when payment credentials are connected.

4

Fulfil & ship

Manage orders, define package templates, and (with carrier credentials) buy labels and generate customs docs.

How live auctions work

Auctions are for unique pieces. Bidding is real-time and protected against last-second sniping by a soft-close rule.

Real-time bidding

The current bid, bid count and countdown update live as others bid — no page refresh.

Proxy bids

Set a maximum and the system bids the minimum needed on your behalf whenever you’re outbid.

Soft-close

A valid bid in the final 2 minutes extends the auction by 3 minutes — so last-second sniping can’t win.

Server-validated

Every bid is checked and recorded in the database under a lock, so the minimum increment always holds.
